Beer Tasting...

I been trying different beers as of late just to see whats out there. The 3 brands I have tried over the past few weeks are Samuel Adams, Rolling Rock and Boulevard. Lets first start with Samuel Adams. The company makes a massive amount of flavors and so far I like most of them. The only one I'm going to avoid is the Cherry Wheat. I'm mean come on cherries and wheat isn't a flavor I think of when looking for a beer. I would recommend the Summer ale. Its has a nice lemon after taste that really works unlike cherry. Next is Rolling Rock. Now I can't think of anything great to say about this brand. There is no taste and the after taste reminds me of soap. I guess if you completely dislike the flavor of beer then this would be a good choice but I would just pass on this. Last is more of a local brand so I'm not sure if its available everywhere. This brand is called Boulevard. This brand is a similar to Samuel Adams but has more of a light fruity after taste. I would also recommend this brand.

So out of the three premium beers here is what I would score them:
Samuel Adams: *****
Rolling Rock: *
Boulevard: ****

Pachter says PS3 complications might have delayed GTA IV

I'm not that surprised by this story. The PS3 may be powerful but its piss poor design is causing slowdown issues and delays all over the place. If you look at Madden 08 on the two system you will see that the Xbox 360 version runs at 60fps while the PS3 version can only due 30. Not so great after years of Sony saying how great the PS3 is and how its going to win. GTA is just another victim of this. Its bad enough that the PS3 I own is collecting dust but now its delaying games I want to play. Thanks Sony for making the largest electronic brick ever made.

DVD9 is more than enough for PGR4, says dev.

Thats right PS3 fanboys suck on that. Shut your pie holes!

HD DVD Player Gets Another Price Drop

Wow this thing is dropping fast! I'm not sure if that is a good sign for HD-DVD or not. Its going to help them out but two price cuts back to back is strange. If your looking to go HD then the drive is a great buy. I have one and never seen a better picture.

Microsoft HD Photo considered for standardization by JPEG committee

"Microsoft's ongoing attempt to establish its own photo format as a JPEG alternative (and potential successor) took another step forward today when the JPEG standards group agreed to consider HD Photo (originally named Windows Media Photo) as a standard."

I think this is a step that should have happened years ago with JPEG2000. Thanks to legal issues it never took off and we were stuck with a older codec longer then we should have. HDTV broadcasts are no different. Instead of using MPEG-4 to provide the best picture possible they went with MPEG-2. While MPEG-2 can give a excellent picture. Many broadcasters have no clue how to correctly broadcast a sports game with out artifacts. Last years baseball season on Fox looked awful.

PGR4 hitting dvds limits and PS3 fanboys

I was on a gaming site just now looking at the issues PGR4 is hitting with DVD constraints. Basically the game developer is making prerendered textures for everything. The issue is that having 3 or 4 sets of texture for each track gets to be a huge task to find space for. IMO a better way could be found to get a similar effect. Anyways, As I was looking at the comments I couldn't help the fact that a lot of PS3 fan boys don't understand why the Xbox 360 never used a HD-DVD drive in the system. It just wasn't ready for prime time during testing and Microsoft wanted a year head start over Sony. These people don't understand it was a valid move and is why their Sony is in 3rd. Yes, DVDs are getting small but I rather have games on DVD then nothing on Blu-Ray. Really I think the PS3 people are looking for any reason to validate their purchase. I know I'am...

Companies that use us as beta testers.

My Xbox 360 had the 3 ring of death a few months back and yes Ballmer its "Painful" for us too. When you rush out hardware without any testing we become the beta testers and many of us had to pay out of pocket to fix it. Though my thoughts about Sony aren't much better since the HDTV I have has a major flaw in its design that causes it to discolor after one year. Right after the warranty runs out. While Sony did extend the warranty I can only think Sony rushed this TV out just as Microsoft did with the Xbox 360. Maybe Sony and Microsoft need to stop and think about what quality means. You always got to pay a premium for Sony products but it sure doesn't show.

Rumor: Microsoft Dumps Xbox 360 Core

Now really who didn't think this should have happened since day one. The guy who came up with the nickname for it "Tard Pack" couldn't be more right.

Is Sony going to die?

Just got the latest copy of EGM and Lair didn't review all that high. In fact they basically said it was a rent only. If games like Lair and Heavenly Sword fail. Just how many losses can Sony take? As a PS3 owner myself you began to worry about if buying a PS3 was a good idea. At this point only MGS4 and FF have a chance to save Sony but I guess at the very least I have a Blu-Ray player.

Heavenly Sword not so Heavenly!?

I just got done trying the demo of Heavenly Sword out and I can't say that I'm that impressed. Its basically a God of War clone but a poor one at that. The graphics look awesome and the music drags you into the experience. The issue is that it just isn't fun to play. The fighting ruins the experience and slows the game to a dead stop. Maybe I'm jumping the gun because it was just a demo and a short one at that. If this is what Sony is coming up with to combat the Xbox 360 and the Wii. Then they are in a world of hurt.

OpenSuSE Linux 10.2

If you ever wanted to try Linux but didn't want to mess with the head ache that Linux brings. SuSE is the way to go. I recently tried 3 different versions of Linux. Each had issues that would have made a Linux n00b, maybe even a expert, cry. One distro didn't like my raid while a second lockedup because of my supported video card. SuSE didn't have any issue with both and installed right away. Its known to be the most supporting version of Linux and it shows. So if are wanting to give Linux a spin its the way to go.
